I read an article today by Carmen Pedrosa where she warned that the use of the PCOS machine again in the coming elections next year will lead to elections anarchy. I believe that if we return to manual counting, from a successful automated elections a few years back, would lead us to anarchy - election-wise - and also more work for our already tired teachers!
What she is insinuating then is that every single elected congressman, senator, vice-president and president from the past election may not have been elected by the people? Really? I actually think that if manual counting was used, it would give losing candidates enough time to 'doctor' the results and make them look like the winner. But with the PCOS machines, the results come out in less than 24 hours in most urban centers and sets a trend - and shows who the people really voted for. I don't think it's a perfect machine but the past election has shown that it can work. So we should continue to use it - at least for the national elections!
