The BMX was a very popular bike when I was growing up, so I was pleasantly surprised that there is now, actually an Olympic event featuring that iconic bike. Apparently, nowadays, the bike is being used for stunts. It is like the motorcross for bikers! The lone Asian in the field of 32 is Filipino Danny Caluag, who is now based in the US. He finished last though in the event, but even then, just being able to qualify for an Olympic event is an achievement already, as the standards of today's Olympics are really high. It would be great if Danny created more awareness for his sport locally so that more young Filipinos who are into BMX biking would test their talents against the world's best!
