The hard work to prevent flooding in Metro Manila starts now and once again, we target the most vulnerable group of all - our urban poor. This would take a lot of political will to implement the eviction of these structures but the government has to explain properly to the inhabitants why it is dangerous to be living there in the first place. A little monetary compensation should also be given since rental rates here in Manila are quite expensive, even in squatter areas. I doubt if these people would move to the relocation sites. Those are just too far from 'civilization'.
