The Show That Solves the Problems Face to Face

Every day, my aunt asks me the same question “What time is it?” She only has two reasons asking me this question. One, she wants to close our store already. Two, she needs to know if it’s already her favorite show, Face to Face.
Ever since mid-October last year, the time my aunt made me watch Face to Face for the first time, I have always been fascinated with the show’s plot. At first I thought it was just another show that was boring, but I was wrong. Face to Face is anything but unexciting.
Even though I love that show, I know that it has its ups and downs. A few good reasons of why  people including I watch that show are because we can relate to some of the situations the two parties pitted against each other experience.  We can also get advice from a legal expert, from a child psychologist, and from a Catholic priest for spiritual and moral advice.   They are better known as ‘Trio Tagapayo’.  The hosts of the show, Amy Perez and Hans Mortel, are entertaining yet refined and tasteful.  Although most of the problems are serious, you can be sure that aside from getting mad, you will also  laugh at one point of an episode.
Sometimes, people interpret and accuse Face to Face of being scripted because they and even I cannot believe that there are certain people who have no compunction to airing their dirty linens in public, complete with violent physical reactions and using words that figuratively can damage one’s ears. Isn’t it strange when the parties fight and throw the chairs and other objects at each other? Don’t you think that they will feel humiliated? I always ask myself, where is their self-respect. Unless, it was all just an act and the parties were all actors who are paid. Hence, whether party participants are actors or not, Face to Face is also embarrassing the people. I just cannot understand why this show is allowed to be aired in the late mornings when minors, or even children, can watch the show. This will surely give a false interpretation to the children watching it on how our society is structured, and how relationships are built and destroyed.  Moreover, this can be a precedent for the youth to follow later on in life.
Whether the problems are about adultery, cruelty, robbery or racism, different family and social issues, a person may feel that it is their story being told through another person. When the ‘Trio Tagapayo’ shares their wisdom to the people, they are not just helping the crowd in the studio but also helping the people who are watching from their televisions sets. Who knows if these people are going through the same problems and obstacles at the moment? Who knows if sooner or later they will also face a similar dilemma in the later chapters of their lives?
. Both Amy Perez and Hans Mortel engage their audience in whatever topic is discussed during a show. For example, Amy Perez  is frank but considerate and displays a sense of humor and is still  witty whether she is reading comments that came from all the certified ‘sawsaweras’ or interviewing one or both of the parties. On the other hand, Hans Mortel can still look well-mannered and professional conversing with the audience during his segment ‘Boto-Hans’ even if the parties are physically attacking each other already.  The majority of the problems Face to Face helps to mend are problems commonly happening in our society.  Cheating on your significant other and mistreating the people around you are the two most talked about problems.
What I also like about the show is that it ends by reconciling warring parties. Most times, both parties apologize to each other. Whether their reconciliation will continue after the show, only they can tell.
At the end of the day, I have to say Face to Face is a show to watch. It teaches us values and ways to cope with our problems. But as always, parents and adults should always watch with the children to secure the innocence and impressions of the child’s mind.
