Captain Barbel Richard Gutierrez, a kapuso actor, refuted reports that he reprimanded and used disrespectful words to MMDA traffic enforcers when he was caught driving over the speed limit imposed at Commonwealth Avenue Tuesday last week. Actually, it was Richard’s SUV and Richard was inside the car but as a passenger. It was his driver who was doing the driving when they were apprehended by the MMDA enforcers.
According to him, he got irritated and annoyed when he sensed that he was being harassed by the traffic enforcers. But he stressed that he was cool and calm, and not quarrelsome and disrespectful as reported. He was not even using curse words. He said that the video can attest to his behavior with the enforcers.
He also reiterated that he got irked when he heard the MMDA personnel talking to somebody over the radio telling whoever he was talking to that it was Richard Gutierrez that they apprehended. The person on the other side of the radio was heard to say “go ahead and issue a (speeding) ticket to him so he will be disciplined and we’ll call the reporters later”.
According to him, he was a passenger and not the driver when they unintentionally violated the speeding limit, and they (the MMDA) have no right to do what they did.
The person on the other side of the phone was identified as Ronnie Rivera. He is the MMDA No-Contact Policy Chief. He denied that he did not give any instruction to anybody about calling the media.
