With Filipino doctors and nurses all over the world, it is not surprising that our country's hospitals are positioning themselves as a global hub for healthcare! Well, we've worked with the best in the world, so we know we are world class in terms of healthcare. Ironically, outside the more expensive hospitals in Metro Manila, much has to be desired from the health care at the local level, especially those that cater to the poorer classes.
Anyhow, I won't hold it against the 'richer' hospitals to train their sights abroad since medical tourism is also being promoted in Thailand and India - so why not here? And to add to the bonus, we have lots of interesting places to go for these patients to recuperate. I'm sure Vicky Belo has a lot to say about medical tourism - many of her clients are overseas Filipinos looking for a quick fix here - since it's much much cheaper than what they would have to pay, say, in the US or the UK.
