Well, they almost stopped traffic in EDSA because of those oh-so-sexy underwear ads last year, but their victory last week against Sri Lanka in the Asian 5 Nations tilt, puts the Philippines among the top 5 Asian nations in rugby, and gives them the chance to compete in the Elite Division of the Asian 5 Nations in 2013. That would give them the chance to qualify for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England. Well, one step at a time! Just like the Azkals, the rise of this team has been meteoric and I hope this time, no stupid broadcaster would scoff at them being half-Filipinos. Why do we always enjoy pulling ourselves down?
As for me, I would love to see them play in the Hong Kong Sevens, the rugby tournament in Hong Kong every March. That's one of the most fun athletic events in Hong Kong and it being so near Manila, we can finally have the chance to cheer for them!
