Teaching Shoemaking in The Shoe Capital of the Philippines
I read an encouraging article today which said that Councilor Susana Magtubo of Marikina has file a resolution asking the Marikina Polytechnic College to add shoemaking to its technology and vocational education and skills training courses. I find that a good idea since the place has a long tradition of shoemaking and Filipinos are very creative designers. I won't be surprised if we can come out with really good shoe designs if this program pushes through.
It's not going to be easy because of the Chinese penchant to copy designs but if we just stick to our quality and be creative enough, there will be a market for our shoe products. Frankly, many women would be interested to find other shoes coming from other places other than China.
