I'm not exactly religious, more of a Sunday Catholic really, and I do not subscribe to everything the Church says now as Gospel truth - they are after all, the same people who said the earth was flat - and anybody who said that it wasn't was excommunicated!!  So they're not really infallible guys, so don't take everything they say hook, line and sinker - God gave you brains after all!!  But anyway, I do subscribe to what Archbishop Tagle says here.  I spend about 30 minutes a day with God, as I visit the Chapel of St Michael the Archangel in Trinoma before I go to the gym.  I pray the rosary and all these freakin' prayer cards I've collected and well, it's the time of the day that I get to talk to Him, and I believe He's actually listening, although it must be hard especially that we're 5 billion people talking at the same time.  Anyway, it's a habit I really suggest you add to your daily routine.  It's very calming, it takes out some of my stress and it's great to be in a very quiet surrounding at least for a few minutes everyday.  I believe God resides in silence and that's when we really get to hear what He wants to say.......

Finally, someone had the courage to challenge the INC's solid vote policy. I know of three friends here in FB who are INC and it must be terrible for them to vote according to who Manalo wants them to vote! Ano ako, nakatira sa North Korea, Afghanistan or Iran, susunod na lang sa gustong mangyari ng 'God' ko kuno? Para ke pa na nakatira ako sa isang democratic country if I cannot vote according to my conscience? Para ke pa na namatay si Ninoy, si Lean Alejandro, si Edgar Jopson, sina Rizal, Bonifacio, etc etc, for the freedoms I am just taking for granted today, and allow someone to just dictate to me who to vote? Kahit sabihin pa ni Miriam na bobo ako at tanga, I still have the right to choose who to vote, regardless of who I worship as my god. God Himself must be shaking His head at this, sabi Niya siguro, para ke pa na nilagyan ko kayo ng brains dear kung magpapauto lang kayo......

Old Manila Walks Now in Corregidor

I did an Old Manila Walk tour years ago, in Malacañang Palace - and I really had a great time!  I brought Mama with me and we were lucky to have then President Arroyo greet us - although we were chicken shit to ask her for a photo with our group.

Anyway, I just read in Manila Bulletin today that Ivan Man Dy, the guy behind the Old Manila Walks has included Corregidor in their itineraries!  That's cool!  I've always wanted to visit that island off Manila Bay.  I have been in Manila for twenty years and I've never been to that historic island.  Oh well, that is surely going to change this year as I have penciled into my date book that it's going to be a place I'd be visiting these next few months!

Fr. Shay Cullen and the Dismantling of the US Military Bases Here in the Philippines

I am foolish sometimes in my opinions.  I read an interesting article today about what Irish priest Fr. Shay Cullen had done for the children of Subic when they were still under the US military bases.  I remember that it was in 1992 when the bases treaty had to be renewed and our brave senators rejected it, paving the way for the dismantling of the US bases here.

I was just a college student then, but I was one of the few who were quietly questioning why the dismantling of the US bases had to happen.  I was foolish enough to think, at that time, that the Americans were actually helping us - when in reality - some of the US Navy officers at that time were using their influence and power to fuck, yes, fuck our 12 year old boys and girls!! Talk about being sick pedophiles!  And thank God, Fr. Shay Cullen was brave enough to stand up against one of those pedophiles!  Talk about having a real guardian angel in our midst!
