Tulfo: Another Spanish Basher #ramontulfo

I know that Spain was our colonial ruler for 333 years but that was such a long time ago and the world has changed so much since then.  In this article below, Tulfo belittles Angara's appointment into this body of researchers interested in Spanish history and culture - kasi daw inapi tayo ng mga Espanyol nuon.

Whew!  That was hundreds of years ago dear and times have changed.  Everyone in the world is equally regarded already and the concept of colonial master and slave has long been obsolete.  I don't feel that way anymore against any Spanish person I meet, and they too don't see us any less.  As usual, what Tulfo is saying here is quite denigrating not only to us but to the Spanish people.

Why Dolphy can’t be National Artist any time soon

What's the use of giving the award when he's dead?  And why do we have to compare Dolphy's work with the other directors who received the awards earlier?  Each artist is unique in their contributions and I don't think it's his fault that his movies have not been saved.  Frankly, I can't believe that Carlo J. Caparas has this award rather than Dolphy or Nora Aunor.  You can ask any Filipino cinephile and I don't think Caparas' name would be in the top 5 or top 10 list of people from the movie industry who deserves to win the award!  The ugly head of politics.....

A Degree in Agriculture, Anyone?

I've always felt that one had to study for something he is really interested in, and I am surprised that not many young people would want to study agriculture, to think that many of today's youth espouse concepts like saving the environment or saving the world or helping the poor - and what best way to do those by, well, studying what to plant and where and yes, feed the world in the most efficient way!  Glamorous it is not!  It will not make one famous or controversial.  However, I think it can make one rich, very rich, since we are primarily an agricultural nation. And, yeah, people eat!  We have to eat, or we die.  So the market is in a way, bottomless and never-ending in its need!

So if you're going into college and thinking of a course to take, and you love plants and animals and is curious how they grow, why not take Agriculture.  The University of the Philippines in Los Banos is a very competent school.  Also, there are so few of you studying this course, so the demand for your future job will surely be big - and that romantic notion of a gentleman (or lady) farmer would not be impossible!

Jean Marc Cordero: Premier Filipino Danseur

Ok, it's funny, but I don't know the male counterpart of a ballerina, that's why I just wrote Filipino dancer there, but the talents of Jean Marc Cordero far exceeds that.  Just like Candice Adea, he's been competing in ballet competitions worldwide and have brought honor to our country.

Candice Adea: Champion Ballerina

You don't need to read Candice Adea's impressive resume.  Just look at her form and marvel at her talent.  Too bad I missed her performance in Crisostomo Ibarra since I was tied out that day.  I hope she gets to perform in a future show so we can get to see her talent in the flesh!
